Last summer, I visited my cousin in the countryside. It was a beautiful day, and we decided to go for a walk near the river. Everything was peaceful until I saw a cow standing in the middle of the path.
I thought I was brave, so I decided to walk past it slowly. Suddenly, the cow started running towards me! I panicked and started running in the opposite direction. I didn't see the mud puddle in front of me, and I slipped and fell right into it.
My cousin burst out laughing. Even the cow seemed to be laughing! I was covered in mud from head to toe. We still laugh about it today. That day, I learned that cows are faster than they look!

Understand the rule
A narrative needs a setting, a sequence of events and a meaningful ending. Humour can result from a misunderstanding or unexpected outcome; it should not humiliate a vulnerable person. Use past tenses consistently.
Follow a method
Introduce who, where and when. Explain the misunderstanding. Use past continuous for background and past simple for events. Reveal the outcome at the end.
