Dear Sir/Madam,
Subject: Request for permission to organize a charity event
I am writing to respectfully request permission to organize a charity event at our school. I am a student in Grade 12, and I believe that organizing such an event would be beneficial for both the school and the community.
The event will consist of a bake sale and a talent show. All the money raised will be donated to a local orphanage. We have already started planning the event and have received support from many students.
I would be grateful if you could consider this request. We would be happy to provide more details and follow any guidelines you may have.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
[Your Name]

Write a clear formal request
Original practice material · explained answers · no official-exam attribution
Understand the rule
A formal letter identifies the recipient, states a purpose and makes a precise, polite request. Avoid slang and unexplained abbreviations. Do not invent qualifications, events or contact details. Conventions may vary; consistency and appropriateness matter.
Follow a method
Use an appropriate salutation. State your reason for writing. Give the relevant information. Make your request. Thank the reader and use a suitable closing. With a named recipient, Yours sincerely is a common closing; without a name, Yours faithfully is commonly used.
Worked example
Practise and explain your answer
01Request permission to organise a reading session.
02Revise your first draft using a checklist.

Write a formal letter to the head of your school asking for permission to organise an English reading club. Explain its purpose, schedule and practical needs. Use fictional contact details.
This is original MathMaroc practice, not an official examination task. The four sections suggest an organisation; adapt it to your teacher’s actual instructions.
